Hey, that would be so cool if you guys could toss back a couple Tyskies and come up with some diabolical beast together. I sure wish smicha (aka Sebastian) lived in my town. Bet your ass I'd buy him a brewski if I could.

Maybe look at this thread: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=59396&p=304624&hil ... C1#p304624, and/or smicha's videos... I would imagine working something off the Asus EP2612 WS motherboard with dual xeons would be the way to go. From what I gather, more reliable to go with xeon's and WS mobo for work than the gamer boards/i7. If you can wait, I agree the hybrids would be your best bet, if not, figuring out a way to get the most air around the cards. A huge thing is 1080Ti no longer has to be cut, so a couple AIO for cpus, a single pump and water loop for the 4 cards would be pretty easy to set up. Still more expensive, Polder anim has a point...

Really interesting to hear your views on air cooling, @Polder - I started out this summer going that direction, using your rig as a guide with the intention of going to water later. I ended up switching to water before I ever got a stable air system up and running because I needed all 7 cards up and running quickly. I thought I remembered you saying somewhere your air system was flaky and you would go to water next, but I read so much stuff, so quickly I don't remember who is who anymore

What are you using for motherboard and pcie extensions on your 6x rig?

I've been running my water cool rig for about 3 months almost non-stop now, and have no problems with it whatsoever. Total cost was around 8k, which is less than what I spend on my trashcan macs.
