I would take(and I did just few days ago) 1070.
Right now this the "golden middle" - it's not too expensive, and provides slightly reduced speeds.
The reason for 1070 is because 1080ti coming in the Jan 2017, and it would be wise to wait one month on slower card, and then take 1080ti, which will have 10 gigs vram and performance of TitanX - 3328 cuda cores vs 3584 on Titan X.
Basically nVidia will give us TitanX as a consumer card next month.

Well, just did an overclock of the 3x EVGA GTX 1080 FTW Hybrid cards, basically:
Power Target: 130%
GPU clock offset: +100 mhz
Mem clock offset: + 500 mhz
So the little stress testing done, GPU temps are around 35-40C. I did another test and scored around 424 that time. So an average of say 144 overall per card.

Very dissapointing result being the same as 980ti (seen Octanebench results 125 points).vchiline wrote:Well, here are the results of 3 x EVGA GTX 1080 FTW hybrids on my 6850x system. I guess I was expecting a stronger score from a pure number value.
If optimalization for Pascal is not to be doen (yet?).. Why I invest in Pascal cards and not wait to be sure the performance is worth it...
Cheers,

how come the bench is that low? aren't the FTW Hybrid the most overclocked version of the card?? I see others scores 170 with a GTX 1080...
