Nice! So will denoiser still keep images sharp? I can render like 500 samples denoise and it will be quicker than 3000 samples?Goldorak wrote:Firstly, I agree we need to do better with communication on these forums regarding the 3DS Max plugin. Shipping V3 simply spread our team thin, and I will be the first to admit that is not an excuse- all I can do is be transparent about why this has happened.
So we will fix this, starting with Azen providing continuous feedback on these forums so no one is left waiting on answers or updates form us.
Robsteady - spend 50 minutes watching both GTC videos and get your facts straight, then try posting again. We showed a fully functional denoiser - it's in the slides on the website. You can go buy Altus' product today and use it with 3.00 just as we did for these initial tests - even prior to the integrated system we are jointly working on with them for 3.1.
Hopefully Octane 3 will have fix/more samples for secular reflections especially when using DOF
Otoy is just not following through with the things they say they are going to do: ramp up development on the 3ds Max plugin. The only communication issue is that you seem to not be getting the message that you need to take some responsibility here and offer refunds. Instead, you are leaving other less initiated customers to "have some faith here" when under the hood, there are not even any developers working on making this plugin better. There is just one guy who jumps in from time to time to relink a new Octane .dll, maybe scramble together a couple bug fixes.Goldorak wrote:Firstly, I agree we need to do better with communication on these forums regarding the 3DS Max plugin. Goldorak, you started giving continuous feedback months ago and it has been appreciated, but you're also responsible for posting a LOT of empty promises, most of which don't bother me. That's how software goes. But, when there is no effort being put into software that is so sub-par to begin with, the users are going to notice. Again, I'm talking about the plugin, not the engine.
Aside from the denoiser point, Robsteady's facts are all straight and even that point is partially true.

I will not upgrade until there is proper material conversion for my old scene. I see no reason spending even 50$ for stuff that doesnt work integrated like it should

We have Azen on support, Jim on core development and yes we are searching for more engineering support, specifically to focus on material conversion. Just to be transparent, we haven't found that person yet. None of this is holding up the core 3.1 features, which will be coming to Max.
Feedback (good / bad) is welcome when it helps us understand how to serve you better. We just ask that inquires are informed and actionable so we can provide a meaningful response. You guys make Octane what it is, and we love the passion you have.

To my original point:
Why u didnt mention clearly that the plugin is in beta when u made it availiable?
This can be consider as deception/misinformation btw... and we should have a right for refund.
Noone informed me that v3 is not the final product when i bought it and i had the impression as any normal person would, that i m buying a complete product with documentation and the features that were promised. I dont know what happens in New Zealand, but in my country this is illegal.
So if i ask a refund now, what happens? thanks

We agree the product should be labeled clearly and that you should have every opportunity to know what you are getting before you make a purchase. I will ask Win to help review and get to the bottom of this.thanulee wrote:To my original point:
