If you want to stick with version 2 I will back port render room rendering to version 2. Will that satisfy your workflow needs?

Thank you, Simon. That might be a way to go, but I do like being in the loop as things develop.

questions though:
Will my current 3.0 version stop working at some point if I do not formally upgrade? A license only applies to a single version, but how long is a version good for? 6 months?
I should probably contact Otoy with these questions.
When you buy a license, you own it for life. Or at least for as long as OTOY's license server survives.
Access to 3.0 with a v2 license will stop working June 1st.

Edit: IMHO: If history has anything to say, v3 will be actively worked on for 12-18 months. Following 3.0 will be 3.1 and very likely a 3.2 by the end of the year. We may or may not hear rumours about 4.0 sometime next year.

Sorry to disturb again :)

I installed Octane 3. However, there are some problems.

a) On the donwload portal, it says I download version 3.0.20.11. But when I open the window, it says 3.00.0011.
b) Volumetric clouds does not seem to work. Do I something wrong here?

Best wishes,
Thomas
The 11 at the end is the important part. Check the about box to be sure.

Here is a Carrara project with a simple volumetric cloud rigged with an Octane Medium shader.

Do not load a Carrara project by double clicking on them in Windows Explorer. The Octane Plugin will not be initialized properly if you do and the scene will not render. Always start Carrara first and then load a project into it.

Hi Sighman :)

I'm noticing that the default medium for the Volumetric clouds is black,. has something changed ?
It's easy enough to add a medium shader to it,. but I think it would be more user friendly to have a white-ish cloud as default.

also fountains,. I'm not seeing anything show up, irrespective of shader or medium applied to it
maybe I'm not setting it up correctly,. can you give me a quick run through of what needs to be set up to get fountains working.

Yeah, I noticed that clouds are no longer whitish. This is a change in the SDK that I did not compensate for. I'll fix it in the next release.
I'm not sure why fountains stopped working. They just render as mesh triangles now. I'll see if I can get them working again in the next release.

Fixed the version number, cloud color, and fountains should render now.
