thx. Testet this and its not working.

setup: Sequence "FumeFX_0000.vdb - FumeFX_0100.vdb
set "Frame number digits" to "4" and its not rendering anything for the duration of the timeline.
set "Frame number digits" to "0" abd it renders the vdb in the File slot corectly. (except for fire still)

You are setting the filenames wrong. Read the feature description carefully please. There are no underscores in frame number mentioned.

Hi Jim

FumeFX automaticaly puts in an underscore.. this cannot be changed. at least not that i know of. Also 4 Diggits at the end which also cannot be changed

Why is it so hard to deal with it? The description states <file name> which can be anything including underscore in it. The underscore is not stated as a part of frame number.
Just point the object to FumeFX_.vdb and set frame number digits to "4".

Here is a Test sequence i made for you. Its 20 Frames and straight out of fume (not rendering on my end)
Maybe you can tell me how im doing it wrong.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/gk5cnw4ky1jnu2v/vdb.zip?dl=0

and the Render using VrayVolumeGrid
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cdmr805mswoen8l/jim.mov?dl=0

so its not a file issue i guess

Kind regards

Sorry, but the files themselves are pointless to me without explanation of what is your setup in the Octane volume object.
What is the value of "filename" attribute set? What is the value of "Frame number digits" set? What are the values of other attributes set? Does it render if you point to any of those vdb files and set "Frame number digits" to "0"?..

Jim

1. Setup is a 20 Frame Smoke explosion (smoke only)
2. "Filename" attribute is an option i do not have in the Volume Object
3. Frame number digits is set to 4 since the Files habe 4 Digits
4. All other Values are unchanged
5. Yes it renders when i load each files seperately and set the Frame number to 0

kind regards

The Octane volume object has the "filename" attribute. Its button is at the very top of the UI and is marked as "File".

Yes, I wrote about it in a feature description and in my very first answer to you here about that, mentioning exactly how this filename must look like in your case...
This Jim_.vdb is just used when you disable the sequence (digits to "0"), but it is not used when the sequence is enabled. So you will still need the Jim_0000.vdb for the frame "0"... So, don't rename it, just copy it to the default named one.
