hair particles render in viewport but nubby in render (pics)

I went back to a previous version and it's working...mostly. I'm noticing clump hair settings only working the view port. They disappear when pressing render

The latest Octane Blender version where all hair settings work is 2.21.1 - 7.7.

Several functions related to curl and clump are disabled in the following versions.
