Darken the diffuse part and brighten the specular part
I think for proper results you should use same HDRI map, and same response curve of camera.... ... Ithink

this is not relative, since madcoo is using orange/red HDRI and similar response curve ( orange/red )
and matej used HDRI with no red or oranges ( response curve of camera doesnt look like its red/orange kind )

so my conclusion is that in madcoo scene matej's setup will look like copper.

Metal always was depending on texturing/lightning setup ( for me )

I think You need to work on it in ... bump map / lightning way

Yes, my solution is not definite, and the same material setup will look different under your lighting conditions. But it's a start. The basic idea is that for steel there is little diffusion and a lot of specularity.

Hi there!
I tried your Steel settings, and they work PERFECT (well at least I think so... )
Thanks again !!!

Here are some tests, the scene is now over 700,000 triangles.
Render is only Directlighting for now.

Please please please, don't hesitate to criticize!!!
:D

Great render, i like the vintage look of the blender.

I suggest you could age it a litttle bit. I'm not sure how to do it, maybe with a sutle texture for scratchs on the paint or a float-texture on the reflectivity channel, to make it less uniform and introduce some imperfections in the shining. Like it wasn't perfectly clean.

Thanks for your comment kiwimage ;)

I was so tired last night (at 2am) that I thought "Oh well, my picture is nearly finished now!!!"

Nevertheless, I think something's missing, especially regarding what you can see in the reflection on the bowl.
I think I'm gonna add a cup of tea and a croissant (or any pastry) behind the camera, so that they reflect in the bowl, and the reflection doesn't look like just a grey "splat" in the middle of the image.

Let me know if anyone's got any ideas to submit...
;)

To all -> I'd really appreciate - at least - if you could tell me whether the scene is too "empty", or if it's OK just as it is (sometimes putting too much stuff in one scene makes it worse...)

Thanks guys!
:)

Looks quiet nice, i like the bag and the metal case of the mixer.
I think the knifes are to small in opposite to the egg. :)

Cheers and blend it, mib.

Thanks for your comments mib2berlin, indeed you're the second person who's told me the knives are too small  (I posted my wip in BlenderClan.org too)
I'll size them up, cheers!

It's turning out nice!

Try some different POVs that will make the main subject stand out more. The other stuff is there just as a 'filler', the blender is the important piece.
