Here it works. What exactly is the issue?

Did you have a chance to look at the displacement issue file I sent?
Yes, I had and it's a topology issue. The displaced triangles are really nasty and up with a weird topology when displaced. This causes numerical issues during the displacement intersection tests. To get a better understanding of the problem I will need to visualize what is actually happening, which I want to do in the next weeks. After that I can hopefully say something more useful about it.

Especially the reflection/transmission fix is great.

By the way would you be willing to introduce global material override (other than clay) feature at some point ?

Cheers
Why would you want to do that?

Ok, so I just zoomed my camera in closer and it works up close. But from far away it doesnt do anything.
Could you post an example? Here it works so far.

is that the back face of the geo that's creating the reflection? I played with this for a quick second last night and it looked like the back faces were full reflective no matter what but I couldn't quite tell, so I didn't want to report anything till i had time to better test.

There are no unreflective surfaces, a specular material without reflection is not realist.

Yes it is. We are looking into it.

good to be able to have the option if needed though ;) for real though, the purpose of this feature was to be able to lower the reflectivity of specular material, which are very low at normal angles. water, for example is around 2% at normal, which if you set Octane to do this, it would SEVERELY darken the glass material.

In water reflection is lower due to the index of refraction being lower too.
But yes, I agree that the more options the better, although I cannot see how can you have this option without violating the conservation of energy principle.
