Mac Pro 5,1 - Can i run 6 GTX Nvidia?

I'm in the same boat... 10.9.5 with an internal 680, 4 780ti in a Netstor, and running into the gpu limit issue.

In the process of making a secondary boot for 10.9.1 to see if I can get access to all the cards. Other wrinkle in my set up is my station needs access to the Xsan which is running 10.9.5. Really frustrated with Apple. I jumped through hoops with the Netstor, which is expensive, just to stick with Mac (at the office... I have a PC at home) and now I find out they're clamping external gpu. Really frustrated with Apple, so little reason to continue in this camp.

Anyone make any headway with the GPU limit fix or workaround?
