I've added a thread over on DAZ to cover my SHUTTLE ONE Spaceship.
Here is one image, I'll also post the animation here once it's done, but more pics over on DAZ (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/46036/) or on the Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/scififunk?ref=hl#_

If it's working with Howie's scenes that's a good start!
My episode 8 set (also to be used in a future episode) was 3.4 GB of CPU memory under Carrara Native. Not sure how that will translate to GPU memory as I've noticed Octane is pretty efficient at how it treats textures. I had to manually reduce texture size, dupes, polygons etc to make that one fit.
Also the Ennis house model will push replication to it's limit as it's just a ton of those Aztec blocks replicated all over the place.
Well done for getting this out at the weekend. Now I just have to persuade the wife that I need time on 3D over the weekend. Otherwise I'll get onto this on monday am.
Thanks again. This will make the world of difference to my efforts here.

This is the full scene loaded with no post. Rendered to 500 s/px (11 mins). It took 1842MB of GPU memory. Peek memory used in Carrara was around 5GB.
The trick to loading this scene is by unflattening the fir trees. The 'leaves' of a fir tree consists of hundreds of needles that have to be scattered over the tree. Flattening a fir tree (as is) makes the mesh too big to fit into GPU memory. Simply select each fir tree (there are only 3 in this scene), go to the Effects tab and uncheck the Flatten option. Needless to say that you cannot scatter the fir tree but, fortunately, this scene does not try to.

Making progress on movie textures...
The AVI was rendered using Carrara Native. The AVI was used as a texture for the planes which was then rendered as an animation in the plugin. The image sequence was then converted to an .mp4 using Photoshop.
