Yes,Well ...Let's see if a new plugin comes aong for Max 2015.
Is there a Renderman standalone version? so We can import , an Obj or alembic .whatever ?
Anyway, Octane sandalone version is excelent and orbx is even better than expected.
I'd like to see How it compares with the next Renderman version, featuring RIS aechitecture.

There is no standalone version, it's fully integrated to Maya and Katana.
