Please try again - and make sure to use Octane Cloud Workstation - Autodesk Edition AMI if you want a desktop experience that is ready to go with no further setup.

Same issue here but with the Octane Cloud Edition for Linux. Wasn't aware that these weren't ready to use solutions. Sent you a PM.
What further steps are needed on my side once I get the remote desktop working?

The Octane Cloud AMIs all have a desktop (user mode rights only, which need to be unlocked by the admin as you would normally in Windows/Linux). The Autodesk edition includes the ADSK apps, and the user mode environment has admin rights to install anything - services includes.

For first time users, I would start with the ADSK AMI, it is the simplest to get going.

Can I change my virtual machine without getting charged? Though this doesn't sound that complicated, I only need octane. Just want to upload some obj and render it in the stand alone.
Sent you a PM with my IP.

Hi,

I too am having the same timeout issues, i was trying to connect last night and was getting timeouts (it did successfully connect once)
I shutdown the machine last night and upon powering it up this morning the TCPSVC.exe service command line no longer contains a GUID.

I can successfully connect via RDP (and also Intelliadmin, a VNC type client)
I have the workstation in a VPC with two nic's one private and one public(with attached EIP)

I have the instance in the Asia-pacific Sydney region (ap-southeast-2a AZ)
I'm using the Octane Cloud Workstation AMI

any assistance would be greatly appriciated.

Regards
Tim

Hi,

Ok well i feel like an idiot :) need to pay more attention
I'm trying to run the instance from Sydney, which as of yet has no G2 instances available.
please disregard my previous post.

I'll try to spin up a US or EU instance.

Cheers
Tim

Hi everyone- please remember, if you want the GUID check removed on your instance, please PM me your IP and I can remove it on next restart. Otherwise, you need to be diligent about copying the exact GUID from the RDP session.

One thing I noticed on the console version was that despite me adding the GUID into the user data field and restarting it didn't create the process with that GUID?
