Thank you all for the nice compliments. Th render is pretty much straight out of Octane with no touching up. The only thing added in Photoshop are the bloom, film grain and frame.

I had to render her in two passes as I couldn't fit all the hair in memory at once.

Are they fully modelled? Any secrets?

Yes they are fully modeled. I can provide the model but there is no big secret there with the exception of adding a normal map to the cornea in order to exaggerate its curvature and pick up more light and reflections. The

Thank you. This is really what I was trying to achieve. The initial sketches were more emphasized with stretchier proportions. Then as the project progresses, I had to tone it down to reduce visual discrepancies between the subject and the render.

It was rendered on a GTX 670 with 4 GB of RAM.

I will post close up of details with explanations if you guys have any interest.

Your shader was a fantastic help. I had been scratching my head for weeks without much success before that. I modified it quite heavily and included a couple extra layers to simulate the otjize (the red paste Himba people cover their skin and hair with) layer. I always marvel at how robust the shader ends up being under most lighting conditions.

Sure! I suppose I can try. I'm not sure what you would like to see though. Do you have examples or guidelines of what you'd consider interesting?

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of it. Could you elaborate? I tend to steer away from the daylight illumination model as I find it offers very little ambient depth. I did several iterations of the original layout with daylight without much success. I ended up switching over to a homemade HDR pano and a couple reflectors to push more light from below.

Anyways, as promised, I rendered a few close ups. I thought I'd share.

All the details hold up perfectly close up. An ultra high res re-render would be amazing.
