Well last time I heard they were working on it. I might have read it somewhere on the forum a while ago. I don't think they would be giving up on it reallllyyyyy but yah.
What would also be a good feature is to use displacement as bump as well. So you don't need to waste time adding a bump map to it as well. Just have the two using the same map. I've seen it done in Modo anyway.

Iray seems to be hybrid though. It can use both GPU and CPU (or just GPU), does the displacement work with just the GPU's in use?

Displacement is on the roadmap along with full motion blur. There are a number of changes being made to the core rendering framework to support both of these features correctly in Octane. We generally don't go into details on timing for future features until they are basically ready to ship, but you can rest assured this is very much on our radar.

Thanks for the reply! It's well enough. If you can spare me a bit more info on one thing though, is this featured planned for this version of Octane at the moment? Or am I going to have to buy version 2 for it? Not looking for an absolute answer or anything but just the outlook of what it probably will be? I'm very excited for displacement, it will make it much easier for character models.
