Face_off give me a lot of good advices and i ll show you soon a result near to my exemple above to contrôle the thickness sss like my video above v1.10
But roeland from developper team underscore the fact the diffuse sss look broken in the last ocrane version. And with some other users we can see the sss look really noisy compare to the v1.10
It was important to discuss about it to point the problem and to right back this excellent sss effect inside the futurs version.

Since the v1.13 of octane the diffuse SSS is conncted
even if it s not the same parameters from the v1.10 (personnaly i must invert the absorbtion parameters and the scattering direction to have the same result at the end)
the ray step parameters diseappered like iViz3D underscored it, but we can catch the same result at the end
look at the pictures and compare from the first post of this topics
