good to know thanks.
still unsure about whether or not to install though. not sure I want to have octane stuck on this old laptop forever...
when will octane live or 2.3 be happening (which I assume will sort my machine concerns our)
about one mechine, one license
Radience, I have a Q about new 2.3 internet system. Can I use my license on two or more PCs? For exemple: I work on first PC, than I turn it off and get to the second PC, activate it, work on it, turn off and than return to first PC and use Octane? Or If I activated Octane on second PC I cant return to the first one? Will it depends of machin ID as it was or I just can use my internet profile and can work on any PC I want?

Hi,
You can activate a octane live account in 2.3 to a machine.
While it's activated you cannot activate it on another machine.
You can deactivate the license, and you need to wait 30 minutes before you can activate it on another machine.
The 30 minute requirement is necessary because we'll have a multiple backend server setup with database synchronizations not happening instantly.

yes, but only one at a time.foxid wrote:So I can use any PC I want with my account with 30 min interval?
you need to unlock and lock licenses on machines with 30 minutes waiting in between.

I love new liveID system, except one thing that should be fixed. I upgraded my old 196.x driver with new 253.x (or something like that) from nvidia page and now it says that i need to deactivate licence on old machine first (???), this is really strange as i haven't change anything inside my machine except update driver to latest beta one.
suggestion: put deactivate button on licence live account page so people can deactivate it or put a button to deactivate it on octane registration screen but note people that the licence key will only work on same machine and you can doit maybe like 3 times in one week then you will have to manually contact support, and provide all details about problem you're having if its something thats cousing problem. deactivation counter will get to 3 again when you enter working licence after deactivation and 1week pass
i think 3 times in one week is fair amount for normal user as people doesn't upgrade drivers 3times per day.
that will probably save you from manually deactivating each licence for people that have same issue and can't deactive licence on old machine because of driver change. Also when there will be some major driver upgrade or people will have to change driver to new one you can manually reset deactivate counters to 3 tries again for all.
suggestion2: put a small entry window for people to write inside why they had to deactivate account on liveid licence page that way you can easily see if too many ppl are having problem with upgrading drivers or something simmilar like that. maybe check box if its test version and drop list with version that problem happend.
suggestion3: change detecting code, so it will actually detect if machine and hardware has changed and not rely on data from drivers as they tend to change usually with each major upgrade and you get false positives like machine changed even if its still the same one.
Thanks guyz for really nice renderer and keep up a good work and i hope you'll get this problems fixed soon so you can concentrate more on developing
application itself instead fighting with problems like this atm.

Hi AbraX777,
That is extremely strange... there is no reason the authorization would be based on the drivers.
Can you please pm me your useraccount and password detail so I can have a look ?
Thanks
Marc.
