Congratulations ardian_ian. Images are great.

I'm very happy to see good results with directlight / AO method.

When you have so much time for finishing your projects PMC or path tracing methods can be best choices. But I guess one of the big advantages of Octane Render to other unbiased render engines is Directlight AO mode. Because there is no big difference 5 hours to 10 hours for a render for me :) But 15-20 min. render times with this quality changes everything in our works.

Could you tell us about your scene settings with AO mode? Did you use HDR or octane daylight? Did you use mesh emitters at windows or openings? What is your AO distance value? How many maxsamples value did you set?
If you share more information I'll be happy. :)

Cheers

I really don't know how you can reach such a beautifulness in your renders (with only skylight or with sun) in AO mode.
In all my tests I have never reached an uniform white shader (generally walls are white while the ceiling tends to gray (specially with sun illumination where the floor too gets an unnatural color), even when i trick with the AO distance (decrease) the white becomes so flat.
Sometimes is so frustrating seeing such great jobs with AO Kernel....my "best" job in PT or PMC is far away (obviously your is better) from the worstest of your's in AO

Would be glad some "secret" revealed

Cheers, Paolo

hello ardian_ian, very nice renders...
I use AO for rendering movies too for exteriors.
You use HDRI ? How do you make the sunlight coming from outside ?

Renders are fantastic. The slogans on them are terrible. "Bed Time and throw your bad time"????

First i setup the scene in both daylight, and HDRI..(as you see, there are daylight and HDRI in different scene), in above scene i didn't put any emitters,
but sometime yes.., i'll show you bellow when i use emitters.., an about the samples for animation i use in 512.., but for still image usually i use only 7500sample..
And for AO i use at 2-3 depend on the scene itself (because we can still play with Post-pro after...., i guess that's it hope its usefull :)

i use lower exposure and lower ISO to Avoiding over exposure to get the background visible.
and glass material i cheat a bit by reducing opacity until the shadow bit come in.. :)

Ardian, thanks a lot for sharing some little tricks about your settings I'm sure that they will be lot helpful. I would try to study better the AO mode because viewing your renders comes out it's potential and the only word is "FANTASTIC"!

Keep posting AO renders! :D
