Abstrax

I think i've found a problem......It's a stability issue

to recreate it,do this:

1) Load or create a scene
2) add a placement node in the graph space
3) click on your scene, then back to the placement node.
4) select and delete it with the delete key on your keyboard

You can now no longer select your scene and you get a error ...see attached image

Ok, we dug out Roeland's old trusty WinXP netbook and we could reproduce and fix the problem. We think it's Windows XP only. I just updated the archives. Everyone who experienced this problem on Windows with RC2, should re-download the archive and use the updated version.

Cheers,
Marcus

How is the colour of the sun determined?
In the image below I was messin' with the sliders and I notice the sun colour fades in quite quickly in some cases.
At 2.75 saturation its only just one or two pixels showing as red and then by 2.85 its an all red disk. Seems quite abrupt and the few pixels here and there doesnt seem visually correct... The turbidity slider seems to have a much more gradual effect although the some red pixels issue is there as well. I would have thought the colour would change through red/orange yellow across the whole disk
Hour of the day - its about 530 am in the pic - seems to have a rather abrupt transition in sun colour too 5.35 its red then at 5.40 its yellow.
Doesnt always seem to be a good match for the background sky colour either. A red sun in a yellow sky? dunno...
Perhaps we could have a sunset/sunrise RGB slider for a more vivid/intense sky colour if we choose.
Sometimes the sky can be fairly pink or orange or red...or yellow, depending
Could the sun appear slightly bigger at sunrise and sunset? ..or there be yet another slider for that... :?
I mean I like what you have done but I am not sure its quite as well integrated as it should be. ;)
BTW any chance of the Moon making an appearance at night :)
You could just change the sun colour to cheese green  and leave the users to manipulate the sliders for a suitable position. of course the size slider would be useful here too. 8-)

The daylight system currently only works during the day. We don't have a night sky model at the moment. The color of the sun is only correct if it is above the horizon.

What are your exact settings in the daylight system? And did you increase the saturation in the tone mapping? The sun appearing this red could be an artifact of highlight clipping.

Cant reproduce exactly what I had in the pic before but here is an .ocs of a similar view that goes with the 3.02x_test_scenes OctaneBenchmark file. Click on the RenderTarget PT. Play with time of day 5.3-5.4 and the camera saturation 1.4-1.7 to make it appear/disappear/change colour. I guess it is related to the sun being near/on the horizon.
Dont get me wrong I think the capability to have colourful sunsets/sunrises would be cool from an artistic viewpoint. ;) its just the background colour doesnt go...
edit: fiddle with the turbidity too to make it partially visible about 2.4-2.7

Yeah the colors in sunsets aren't ideal yet. The red sun is indeed because of the tonemapping, which by default uses per-channel clipping. Turn up the saturate_to_white slider a bit to avoid this.
