I am very sorry JimStar, my .dmp files always come out empty, even if I set Octane on verbose mode.
But LiveDB does indeed crash my maya - but always show up fine the first time I open it.

Once I got this message in the script editor, but only one time:
// Error: Object 'scriptEditorPanel1Window|TearOffPane|scriptEditorPanel1' not found.

Not 100% sure it was addressed at Octane but anyway.

here are 2 .dmp written after the crash, I am sorry they open empty for me in Ultraedit.

Yes, it's very strange... And yes, the dumps are empty. But thanks to your screenshot, I can see the things that happens on your computer, thanks.
I'm trying to reproduce it...

Hi JimStar,
thanks for the work. I gonna test this later.
Will mixed materials and instances be supported in the next release?

Don't know what you mean about "mixed materials", but about instances I already wrote - it does not depend on me, the Octane SDK that I have does not support instances. So, these questions you should ask Octane engine team, not plugin developer...;)

RickToxik
I can't reproduce it nor in 2013, 2012, or 2011 Mayas...:? All works perfectly - no crashes, LiveDB appears at the right tab in Octane settings...:?
Can you please describe very detailed, step by step, what you do, and what you get (and in what moment you get)?.. From the point of starting Maya... And the screenshot of content of Maya console (with Octane "Verbose mode" enabled) will be very helpful too...

Perhaps someone has the same bug too? Post here please if you do...

Hi JimStar,

1. Open Maya
2. Choose Octane Render
--- next steps optionnal?
3. Choose my falling-apart CUDA device Quadro FX 3800
4. Make one or two objects
5. Apply materials
6. Add skylight
---
7. Go to LiveDB tab - it opens fine
8. Switch to another tab
9. Come back to LiveDB Tab
10. repeat multiple times
-- next step optionnal or causing the crash?
11. Start an IPR or play with an attribute (like open camera settings in attribute editor)
12. Crash!

Good news,
I was able to produce some .dmp!
But I forgot to enable verbose mode, I don't know if it'll be incomplete for you. If it is incomplete, I will send you another .dmp with verbose enabled:
http://www.invisiomedia.com/Clients/Oct ... ender.html

It all starts when I go back to the LiveDB tab the second time, I experience:
- refresh swatches state frozen
- I see the LiveDB settings in the other tabs (like my previous jpg)
- some rare cases where I saw the LiveDB tab appearing in my renderview/ipr window

I must admit that the crash seems to be happening when I overload maya with clicks, windows request while the LiveDB tab request is happening. I think it my be my very poor CUDA device. Please send money so I can update XD

Good luck!

p.s Almost forgot! The maya crash log (.dmp) gets erased/emptied as soon as I close the window of my crashed maya session!! I had to copy the .dmp WHILE the crash was happening. That's weird!

Hi JimStar,
I have meant "mixed textures"...
So no updated SDK for Maya users yet. I know you are not in charge of this...
Keep up the good work and development.
Cheers

No, it does not matter, verbose mode is not needed for dump.;)
Thank you very much for this cool report!

I'm not able to get the LiveDB to load in maya 2012x64 sap since I installed this version.
It's fine on 2013 x64, though.
It is just stuck on 'LiveDB is refreshing swatches...'

EDIT: I'm thinking that I'd prefer the LiveDB as a seperate window instead of it living in render settings.
Maybe it could be in the Window menu where the new node editor resides and / or a shelf button.
I wonder how many would agree with me?

Yes, it depends on how many users will agree...
I just thought that one more another button or one more another menu item to open one more special window instead of just standard "Render settings" button on the main panel or on the RenderView panel may be some overcomplicated for continous using... And taking into account that Maya has no native way to have the permanent additional buttons (or menus) in the RenderView from the time of plugin loading (without the ugly hacking of native things which is not my way) - it may be worse to have only menus or buttons on the main window for quick accessing of LiveDB...
And in the case of using the Render Settings window for it - you just hit the button on the RenderView (or on the main panel) and get the LiveDB...
So, let users decide what to have... I can move LiveDB to special window if most of users will want it...;)
