Hi Yoyoz,

There is a way to have a manual for the plugins you made ? or someting like that ?

I found an idea too, You have ability to write material to OCS file, so why not put a material macro readers to input a previous exported macro material ? It's an easier way than done a node material for bender, I think.

Matt

ps : exporter works with Kepler build

Hi,

I certainly don't want to step on anyone's toes here but I think that before you go too far altering Lionel's render script it might be a good idea to run your ideas past him. If for no other reason then we don't want fragmentation of the script going on. I completely appreciate that it is a free and open script but I am just asking for a bit of common courtesy. Lionel has spent a long time getting the script into the condition that it is.

From what I can gather from your notes you don't actually appear to be fixing anything. It seems more like you are adding new features that don't really need to be there in the first place. For example what do you mean by "added PMC support". Support for what?

I agree with steveps3. Added to that, Lionels most recent script is 1.20 if I am not wrong, so you forked from a potentially outdated version of the script.

I'm not sure if I should appologise here or not. Especially taking into account that I've already asked Lionel to consider joining the branches together. Thanks for asking, yeah. http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 0&p=103720

Second, about PMC. Do you have script version 1.19 where you can select "PMC" as kernel mode? If yes, can you please share it?

And finally, after such a warm welcome, the last thing I would do in the future -- is to post any further versions here.

All the best.

@lucidlook, you certainly should not apologize for anything. Especially not for trying to help. Since we Blender users are on our own here, we need more people willing to participate. I hope you did not get discouraged too much and are still willing to post updates :D

Lionel's current script is evolutionary at an end, there is not much to add or big work to do, until Otoy finally develops the new scene exchange format and instances become production-ready. This could potentially require a major script overhaul. So, imo, is perfectly ok if lucidlook adds some minor tweaks & fixes to this one, while we are waiting (it could take months - as we know how fast things move around here :) ). If Lionel will be willing to code the next big version, he can still keep (or not) the tweaks lucidlook did.

(that said I'm still using 1.17, which works well enough for me, and I myself am not sure which is the latest version 1.20 or 1.19... :) )

Wow, so tetchy. I thought that my original comment was pretty well rounded and it was certainly not meant to offend anyone. All I was saying was it would be nice to run the changes past Lionel. If you have done this and he doesn't mind then go for it.

As for the PMC change I really can't see the point. Just start Octane and then change your render settings to PMC. I really didn't know that this was such a hard thing to do.

I would greatly appreciate you not posting any more changes if you can't accept a polite word of caution. Keep them to yourself.

So you really want to offer users who wish to render 1000 frames of very complex animation change the render type of each frame manually? Wow! That's an approach to follow.
