Yeah, the 8600GT is a pretty odd gfx card, because of the limited vRAM.
I would get a nice GTX 260 with 216 SPU's and 1792MB vRAM.

I believe that the M series of NVIDIA cards are for laptops.

Oh, you're using an Notebook.
I wouldn't do this, because the gfx card of your Notebook will produce very much heat when running for hours and it's also not a really good card. Get at least one with an GT200 ship.
Would use Octane only on a Dektop Station.
