Did he use 8000 or 9000 version of octane? If 9000 was used than gtx 480 is 10 times faster than my 8800 gt. Nice:)

I would also like to know this answer…
It's a rough estimate: 3-4x faster than a GT200 class GPU (from GT240 to GTX 285).

Did some research on this forum wrt performance of different cards in the chess scene at the default camera view (this view http://img222.imageshack.us/i/octanedem ... tx480.png/)

GTX 275: 3.4 MSamples/s (not exactly the same camera angle though, so it should probably be slightly more http://www.octanerender.com/forum/viewt ... w=previous)

GTX 285: 6.5 Msamples/s (http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... 4205#p4205)

GTX 480: 12.75 Msamples/s (see first post, default camera view)

8600M GT (my card): 0.61 Msamples/s :D

Please add your own card+score for the chess and spaceship scene.

you need to take into account that the version he used probably had filtering enabled., although i'm not sure.

Are you sure that's for the chess scene and not the spaceships one?

On spaceships scene, using 07a demo version of octane (octane 9000) I'm getting 1.46 mega samples by second.

Its for the chess scene without filtering ;)
I will try with filtering turned on

GTX 260 directlighting with filtering 7 MS/s __ 13 fps
GTX 260 pathtracing with filtering 4.75 M/s __ 9 fps

I don't know, sorry.

Those are very good scores (only 3 times slower than GTX480 :?: :!: ), but you're using the latest version of Octane. The GTX480 benchmark was done with v.07, so it's not directly comparable I think.

- SpaceShips scene is 2,16 times slower than gtx 480
- Chess scene is 2,25 times slower than gtx 480
