And I have another question about the day light system.
How can I change the sunlight color now?
We can not give a fake sunlight in the standalone version. But we can change the time, the season and other setting to make different mood, like sunset, dawn.
How to do this in Maya plugin? Will it add the map control in further version?

Plugin does not have such feature using the current version of Octane SDK. Perhaps in future versions it will be added...thomaslee1312 wrote:And I have another question about the day light system.

In this version you may change sun's color only by rotating the sun position or change the north offset.
Please, answer, have you ever encountered the crashes as Slimshader described?.. It seems like there are some issues in Slimshader's system, and others likely should not have these crashes... I need more statistics about it.

After I update the plugin, the file crash one time yesterday. When I link a RGBSpecturm texture node to a Glossy shader's Specular. I know it is a wrong operation. But I wanna say why there is no a specular color setting for a glossy shader. It is wierd.JimStar wrote:

And the file crashed. Then I get the temp.ma file back. If I just open it. Maya can not run a render with Octane render.
The console feedback is
// Error: text: Object 'renderView' not found. //
// Error: Octane: RenderView is closed! //
If I import it as a new scene, it works well. Maybe it is a problem that the temp .ma file lose the octane render global setting information or something else.
No, it is not the wrong operation! You must be able to connect any Octane texture to Specular attribute, RGBSpectrum too. I just checked it - it works OK on my system.thomaslee1312 wrote:After I update the plugin, the file crash one time yesterday. When I link a RGBSpecturm texture node to a Glossy shader's Specular. Please, try to do it more times. And if you will get the crash again - can you give me the scene on what you get the crash and the description of what from ways you are trying to connect the texture (as it may be done more than one way in Maya)?

With viewport 2.0 on, using the Direct Light kernel, I made a simple scene with 5 shapes. I left the ipr off. I added the materials from the shelf, added an rbg spectrum to the glossy material a blackbody to the emission on a diffuse material. Then I added an 1107 x 1807 texture to a plane with one edge extrusion then pressed ipr and then it crashed. If I had left ipr on during these steps I'd likely would have had a crash.
Here's the dmp, log a screen grab and the scene file.

I put some new hardware in the system just to see if it was the culprit.
It might be one of the gpu's but I'm not 100% yet.

It seems that 2.58b crashes Maya if plug-in wasn't loaded on Maya start, but was loaded manually with plug-in manager.
Also it seems it uses some mel code that clashes with rename()/renamer() global procs.
I'm not sure why, but my object renamer stopping to work when octane plug-in loaded, and works just fine without it.
Upd: or maybe declares some global variable $index

I tried the same order of things on a simple scene with only the new gpu's on and I got almost the same thing.
This time I left the IPR on. For some reason the green glossy texture rendered on both the torus and the cylinder when the cylidner had a red texture assigned. I assigned a diffuse from the shelf, added a texture to the plane and then it crashed.
This has the scene file, the dmp file and screen shots.

On your screenshots I see one strange thing...
How are you starting the IPR mode? What sequence? As it is not normal case what I see - when IPR mode is running, all three buttons (reload-pause-stop) on the renderView must be active... but on your screenshots they are not active...

Yeah that is really interesting!
In the screen shots all those icons on the renderview were greyed out.
I looked into it and it usually only seems to happen when I start, stop or pause renders from the octane shelf.
It also happens if i start a render from the render view menu IPR>IPR Render > Camera or if I refresh the render by pressing the IPR button instead of the green refresh button.
I couldn't stop the ipr so I closed the render view and got this error:
// Error: line 1: Object 'pauseIprButton' not found. //
Then it crashes.
