Hi all
:)

Here's my latest pic.
This is just a practise pic, no commercial stuff here.

Enrico => I hope you'll forgive me : your "Urban Apartment" topic highly inspired me, I hope it won't show too much. Anyway there's nothing to worry about : I'm extremely far from your maestria !!!
I also read your "making of" and it helped me with new techniques (or stuff that I'd forgotten).
So, many many thanks for your tips and your great work.

To all => I hope you like it, comments and critics welcome, as always.
Other renders from different cam angles will come later.

Thanks ;)

Very nice ! Well done :)
The only thing that bugs me : The fire, it looks too cheap compared to all the beautifulness of the environment; but that's just a detail.

Hi, as I can see in your screenshot you have so many slots. When I import an obj-file I have only a few slots. How can I assign the slots in 3ds Max?

Thanks for your reply Ice ;)

Indeed there are 2 major downfalls to this picture :
- the fire - next time I'll try a different technique, but I don't know quite how right now
- the marble texture - I admit : that's PURE LAZINESS from me - it's way too repetitive, I should have improved it before applying it

Below is another Camera Angle.

Hi Cashbird,
I use Blender, and I've never used Max.
I automatically get one slot per material that's in my scene.
Is that what you mean ?

Hi guys! Thanks for your replies.
:)

@ Elvissuperstar007 =>
very noisy!
=> I wanted to let it cook longer, but at some point there was very little difference between - say - 5000 sppx and 6000 sppx :?
as metal chandelier glass doors are not transparent
glass doors are transparent (have a look at the ones on the right-hand side). Maybe my specularity value is too high?

and regarding the chandelier, the end of the lightbulbs is not transparent - here's the reference pic :

fire in the fireplace. not realistic
=> Yes indeed... It was the first time I made a fireplace (with fire in it). I think part of the problem is the emission value -> it looks like the fire is in front of the glass, not behind.
