I've tried to localize all the suggestions regarding the material pipeline in one thread, but is sinking fast under the load of opening new "help" threads for every little thing.
See here. You are invited to post into it any ideas regarding the subject :)

What about this feature:

1. Full integration for (enter the 3d package of your choice)

I know you want similar features from 3D packages into Octane, but why bother with that, some of this are redundant features! Right now you still have to export the damn scene, which is anything but interactive this way...

I'm really surprised this is not requested too much around here

 but... but... I wanted it now...

aren't we discussing what we want? do you want it or not??

if all effort was put into this instead of the inmediate repetitive features, it could be as achievable as anything else... of course, taking into account that I do not care how difficult something may be, it can be done with the appropiate resources (people) programming this stuff in a decent amount of time.

Or the competition will. Or has. They're not so condescending as you are.

shoot for the stars!!! dammit! :)

Integration with most popular 3d apps would be freaking awesome! But I would be satisfied with fbx/collada formats capable of importing animated scenes into octane.

Besides new rendering kernel I'm also looking forward to: instances, object based motion blur, Catmull Clark subdivision surfaces, bloom, glare, dispersion, CA... :D

I also have one question. Once instances become supported would it be possible to add some sort of scattering tool inside octane? That would be super useful for creating forests, scattering all sorts of stuff around etc.

Cheers,

1) Output 32bit color TIF, EXR, HDR
2) Export a camera's setup back to 3d Program from Octane.
3) From Image Export Button include the camera reference and all settings as XML. That way if you need to perfectly recreate an existing look, you can in seconds versus loading a new .ocs.
4) Improve handling of film grain and film response curves. Should enable import of LUTs and grain animations. Ala Combustion or Flame.
