Hey everyone,

I am not quite sure, if this issue is already adressed, but I couldn't find anything about this problem on this forum, or the world wide web.

Since the 2020.2.5 update of the plugin, whenever I try to create a metallic material via Material Type: "metallic material" the reflections are non-existent.
It is created looking like a normal white diffuse material, and when I try to deactivate or set the diffuse channel to black, there are no reflections.
It becomes a complete black material. IOR settings doesn't have any effect. With the "Universal Material" it seems to function as intended. Also it works with the older way, to create a glossy material and set the diffuse to black and a high IOR, but on this way, I can't use the IOR Rgb function.

Is it just me or is the way to create a metallic material with the material type metallic obsolete?

All drivers are up-to-date and the metallic material worked flawless in past versions.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,
everything is working as expected here in 2020.2.5-R3, anyway, it should be an easy fix,.
Please check that the Float value in the Specular map channel is set to 1.

If not enough, please share a screenshot from Live View, thanks.

Thank you for your reply!

Indeed that was the case. The Float in the Specular Map Channel is set to 0 by default. When I put it to 1, everything works again.

If I am not mistaken, that wasn't necessary in former version, because I can't remember that it was necessary to touch the specular map channel (So, i assume it was in former version set to 1 by default, or the behavior between pure black and pure white in this channel changed?)?

Many many thanks to you!

So, I would say, that is no bug, it's just a little change in the workflow. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards
