Hi,

I'm playing with hdr environment and made another image of my "Quiet place" series, what do you think about lighting ? I checked it on two different monitors, on one it is too redish and on the other a bit too dark :?

Edit:The rendering time was a bit more than 1h in 2000x1200, not bad for such a scene and considering the bad light conditions.

I would say, if it should look like a stormy afternoon near the evening, you hit the right lightning.
Seeing on my asus laptop, because some days out from my home.

I love images like that, realy dramatic.
Realy nice work...

Thanks dave62, the scene has about 3.6 million polys and the memory used for texture is about 460mb, quite heavy.

the boat reminds me on something...
..yes got it:)

my mind was blown when i saw it first time.

wow

I got some issues during export from blender because of less mem i think. winXP32/4gb/gtx470-1280mb
scene has ~1mio poly, 130mb tex. mem use ~1gb, during export via 2.54 script mem raise above 2gb and crashs.
Maybe i got add fastetect/3gb option in xp boot env or switch to ubuntu64.

What 3dsoftware and os do you use in this project?

Yep, indeed it's the same boat, quite 5 years ago, I re-textured it completely as at this time I didn't used UV mapping.

It seems that you have only one card, if applicable you should add another cheap one (used 9800) for the UI, this will give you all the mem of your 470 for rendering and yes you should switch to a 64bits OS.

I use Blender (2.49 for now) for all my projects and WinXP 64bits.

No idea, you should check the power used by the gt8600 and add it to your current power supply.
