Ok I'm calling this done. ;)

To recap - the model was supplied for a rendering contest.
The idea was to present a realistic pic matching a photograph of the back - slightly odd requirement I thought that made it a bit boring but....
The first one is my attempt at that and the rest are variations on the theme without being constrained to the same view and colour.

Some of it is not quite what I wanted but it will do. Spent too much time on this already.
Anyone who wonders why there is no driver or the lights are odd...well we say this is a Google self drive vehicle lost in GPS glitch (credit to bepeg4d for that explanation)

I hope they look ok on peoples screens. The red one is a little under saturated viewed on my 19" TN compared to my 27" IPS where I rendered it but...well I tried. ;)

No post pro at all.

Thanks for the favourable comment guys. :)
I managed a better standard with these than I usually do with my renders.
Starting with a quality model certainly helps but you still have to put the effort in - something which I usually dont.
If I was really being serious I guess I could have done more with the environment.
Octane glass atm isnt as pleasing as I would want both because of the transmission of light and I think the reflection is a little weak but it will get better I am sure...
I think the ability to move around and tweak things in Octane as you go was a great aid to me in producing these. In the past using other engines I set up a scene and wait to see how it looks rendered and then realise something was a bit off and redo it or have to live with it.
All power to Octane. 8-)

The provided model geometry is very good. ;)
See attch pic from Blender. I pulled the cover away so you can see inside.
The colours shown there are just so you can distinguish the bits.
So the cover is clear and the backing of the red lens is red glossy.
The brake and indicator bulbs are separate emitters of about 500k -one orangey and the other reddish.
The grey areas are quite specular and smooth but less than mirror.
The front headlight covers have a slight opacity to 'catch' some light.
Its a pity the red car wont be bright enough on some lcd...
never mind - always room for improvement :geek:

You could always say the driver is a midget so you can't see him over the top of the seat :P
Anyway, I think it would be good if you added motion blur to the road.
