Hi,

I've just opened the graph editor fully for the first time. I was surprised to find that when I move a node in the graph editor, the scene starts to re-render itself.

Is this a bug?

** Great software by the way, I'm loving it!

One possible thing for future development...

maxsamples was set to 16000
My render was at 812 samples/px
I changed the maxsamples to 1000
It started to re-render

Really there was no need for it to restart, it could just keep on going till it got to 1000 - do you know what I mean?

Maybe I'm missing out on the subtleties of programing, but logically it seems like the render should carry on rather than restart.

Hi,
Its not so much a bug as something that needs revising/finishing.
The unnecessary restarts following some adjustments like node movement and max samples has been commented on before.
I suspect its on the Refractive TO DO list but they have been concentrating on bigger issues and pressing ahead with new features.

Hi Pixelrush,

Thanks for the response. I thought that would be the case but wanted to mention it just in case.

Well a lot of slider movements will change the behavior of the rendering engine, and so to ensure accuracy and consistency, it has to restart the render.
At least that's my take on it. :?

I know what you mean, but from my possibly naive point of view it wouldn't take much to put in some code that said something like,

if new maxsamples is greater than current maxsamples, don't restart

I think Pixelrush has it right, it's more a case of priorities.
