Correct me if I am wrong-
This does NOT 'have' Brigade, 40% done.
This release is a more a 'trainer' to troubleshoot and get everyone familiarized with the Denoiser workflow.

PS - If I decide not to use the Denoiser, am I Renoising?

Awesome release, thank you team Otoy for this. In PBR-land you are faking everything to get the look you want, so I appreciate the denoiser's ability here.
RTX seems it will be minimum Volta only, so the ability to use current GPU and Out of Core combo of V4 will be a very appealing paradigm for many.

I've got some black boxes when using the denoising feature - can this be related to less vram?

and can it be solved by using out of core function? (i have tried, but don't quite know what i do).

AI Denoise Test.

Originally a Vray scene that I partially converted, then exported from Modo.
Download the mp4 below, dropbox resamples the image further if you just stream it.

AI Denoiser is pretty cool, it does have a little room for improvement, but will already cut final renders down quite a bit.
What would be awesome is if we could mask the region by material (on the fly) in conjunction with AI denoiser and Adaptive Sampling. Where say the whole image is ok and I just want the floor material to cook more only, rectangle region isn't suitable.

Good job guys, looking forward to everything coming together for official release.

Octane 4 crashes a lot of times when refreshing scatter nodes,
I guess it is because while it is refreshing the nodes it also rebuilds the AI scene or whatever at the same time and it is probably getting confused...

By the way, the AI noise reduction is a disapointment, it is a nice idea but the images are unusable, looks like mentalray finalgathering or photon mapping with low samples.

How many samples are you rendering ? Don't expect a magical function which will create what doesn't exist. I also got blotches when rendering 20 samples, the problem with all of us is that we would like to get an as good image after 1 min as we would get previously in 1h. Denoiser is indeed magic but not a miracle tool ;)

enricocerica already asked you and I have to agree with him, how many samples did you render? Look at my interior test link 2 posts or so up, that is a video of not even 2min. (download it, don't stream it on dropbox)
It has room for improvement, but we can't really complain can we? Let it cook longer and it will look right! :)

Any solution to the, denoise make octane crash yet?

I can't sure find one..

Some quick results and bug reports :

Edit : Denoiser doesn't seem to work with large images, tried with a 5120x3660 one and no denoise at all (black image)

Crash when using script to update scatter nodes

Black dots after denoising (see below)

Without denoiser after 1000 samples in 1600x1600

Here is a 200 samples result in 1600x1600, render time 6min without denoiser

Much video memory is used when denoiser is activated, duno if this will be the case for the final version but I had to go back in my Win7 partition to be able to render some scenes. Hope this will be optimized.
