Hi Juanjo,

is there a particular workflow to follow when using
Tri-Planar mode?
Actually, when i switch to triplanar on the projection node,
well...nothing happens :)
Thanks a lot for your help

You have more information about the tri-planar mapping in the 3.06 new features thread:
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=60014

New texture nodes

We added a triplanar mapping texture which blends between 6 different textures depending on the surface normal, similar to box mapping but with smooth transitions between the 6 faces of the "blend cube". The transition can be controlled via the blend angle. The orientation of the "blend cube" is controlled via the coordinate space and blend cube transform parameters.

Each of the 6 blended textures can be set up independently and has its own projection providing maximum flexibility, but to allow the quick setup of the most common use case, we added a new triplanar projection node, which only works for textures that are inputs of a triplanar texture node. What internally happens is that the triplanar map texture calculates the UVW coordinates, which are then passed to the input textures and used by the triplanar projection. Of course, you can still use any other projection if you want.

Thanks,

Thanks Juanjo,

but i don't see where you put the 6 inputs
in the node, in the lightwave plugin?
When you have some time, could you do
a little tutorial on this (juste a screen capture of the nodes connected)?
Thanks again for your help

The triplanar node in the LW plugin works like in the Standalone. It works like a box projection map, but in this case, you have six inputs to link a texture to be used to map the object from each cube face, blending the textures using the object normals directions.

Hope this helps,
-Juanjo

Ok thanks Juanjo,

now i understand why it was so unclear for me :
i don't see the triplanar texture in my Octane nodes :)
only in the projection node :)
Is it something i could have missed during the install?
I'll switch to the last build this weekend, and keep you posted
Anyway many thanks for your quick response and example,
perfect as always :)

If you don't have all the nodes after install the latest plugin build, the problem can be that you have not added the plugin to the Layout, so some nodes are missing. You need to be sure that the Octane master plugin is not running, and add the Octane plugin .p file again to your Layout.

Thanks,
-Juanjo
