So I'm having a weird issue rendering a large scene out of C4D. Unfortunately, I can't post the whole scene due to an NDA, but I will do my best to describe the issue.

I'm getting close to doing final renders on some scenes for a spot we're working on, and I've even done some renders of these scenes without issues. But now, what's happening is that some materials appear to be "switching" to other materials, but for the wrong objects, but only in the final renders.

Here's what the frames look like in the live viewer.

And here are the same frames that came out of my (very long) render overnight:

You can see in the final renders that the laser material has switched out to a different material. Also, the ground and car materials have switched out or are missing completely.

Do I just need to restart my machine? What could be happening here?

Hi,
probably a different value in the gemetry engine in Render settings preferences that differs from LV.
Could you post a screenshot of the settings?

I'm wondering if it has to do with this:

try without "ignore unused materials". Also i'd appreciate if you send your scene for testing.

Should I change the Geometry Engine to say "Resend all Scene Data (deprecated)"?

Confirmed: Unchecking "ignore unused materials" and checking "Check Materials Every Frame" fixed the issue.

I think he was actually trying to be helpful, because he, like you probably know, is the developer of the C4D plugin.
