Animation just stops switching frames
Moderator: face_off
My renders just stop , doesn't pause, doesn't freeze the program, just does nothing. When I try to switch frames in an animation. I am using 3.02 is this fixed in 3.03 or something? Not sure if network rendering is causing the issue or what? But it just sits there. Frustrating.

Can you try with the latest TEST release of the plugin pls?
Thanks

So I finally got it to switch frames, another question though.
When it switches frames, I get the error, "Mesh Item not in Mesh item container" Or something of that nature. Then I have to click ok before it will resume to the next frame. Also, after that happens it refreshes the geometry, but it goes about 100x slower at refreshing the geometry than it would if I stopped the render, went to the frame and hit render...
Losing a lot of night render time....
Thanks

I got the error to stop by deleting all the empty meshes. But it still updates the geo and goes super slow. I am on the latest version of everything too FYI
it is literally taked 5x longer to reload the geo than it is to render. I do have cameras animated to swtich between frames and also light passes and light layers. I have 68 of these to render at 4k.

Alright, final update. Everything is working but the geometry load time in between frames. I let it actually finish reloading the geometry between the frames and it took about 25 minutes (1 frame only takes about 5 mintues to render). It saved the final correctly (multilayer exr) and it also saved in the correct spot. It also saved my animated light layers and everything correctly.
So yeah, the only problem is that load time in between frames. I can literally. Load in a frame, render it, then manually go to the next frame and reload octane about 50 x faster then just rendering it as an animation. (Which is what I want to do so i can render over night) Feel like something isn't right about that :/

I have not seen this issue before. Would you be able to send me the scene which causes this problem pls?
Thanks

Will do, its a large scene. do you have an email i can yousendit to?
EDIT: Also I said screw it and rendered an image seq over night. The render layers aren't labeled correctly, and some of them aren't even right. But if I go to the frame in the seq and render it manually they are correct.
EDIT 2: It does the correct light layers each frame, but the light that is assigned to that light layer doesn't change.
example : Frame 1 would have light layer 1, 2, and 3. Then Frame 2 would have light layer 1, and 2. That works correctly.
BUT If I have Light 1 Assigned to Light layer 1 on frame 1, it wont change if I have it set to light layer 2 on frame 2.
EDIT 3: Need to check "Reload Materials Each frame" which makes sense because the light is technically a material. Just doesn't seem like it when you are adjusting a setting like an ID and not like the power or something.f
Sorry for posting so much, figured it best to at least tell everyone how I work through it, just in case they have some of these same problems...
So now the only problem is still the loading geometry between frames being super long for some reason.
