Hi,
unfortunately this effect has stopped to work a long time ago when the fake shadow option was implemented with a new way of handling the light that goes inside the volumes.
With the upcoming v3 we will able to render volume effect again, stay tuned ;)

Hi, I just stumbled upon this thread while researching exactly that.
Is it possible in v3.03 to use an image or a generator for medium nodes?
I've been trying both with scattering and absorption but i've had no luck so far.

Cheers!

In v3 to get this sort of effect you'd create a random volume - this will give you more control over the effect.

In my own time I've started writing a random volume generator for standalone, based on stratified's random 2d texture lua script. It already implements the various generators that we have. I'm hoping to release this soon.

would be nice if you guys in octane 4 can do clouds generations like in E-ON's Ozone. Unfortunately ozone does not work with Octane so the only true atmospheric we got is the Sun

Hi coilbook,
this discussion was from v2, now everything is totally changed about volumes.
In c4d we have several options for creating volumes, and with R20, everything is even more easy.
Do you mind to elaborate a bit more your question?
ciao Beppe
