As John Carmack said in his comment, my scene could have been a photo, so what's the point? ;)

Yes, there is beauty in imaginary worlds. But there's also so much beauty ALREADY in our world. With scenes like yours, we can all share them in a way we never could before.
Firstly; Rikk, perhaps you should have added a static rocket launcher poking into the frame, some scorch marks and giblets? :)

And secondly, and somewhat more seriously. Reality capture will be an enormous part of this new media medium once the hardware catches up. I think you surpassed the scope of the competition.

I have just seen this post and I'm really amazed.
Really an outstanding job. Congratulations! You are a constant (unreachable :-)) inspiration.

Hey Rikk, Valve released their "Destinations" software recently. You should consider porting this over to an environment people can walk around in with their Vives!

Hope you're doing well! I haven't been on the Otoy forums for a little while since the metaverse competition, but I've been thinking about photogrammetry ever since Valve released Destinations, so I've been looking into it again as a means to create photo realistic environments to interactive with and your submission to the competition was first in my mind.
