Sorry to hear that, I will work on improving the manual for the next release. I'll try to make it more art oriented and less tech.

A quick heads-up guys, I am working on a function called EXPORT ALL IMPROVED for AREA-scatter that will get rid of the out-of-memory issues when exporting extremely heavy scatters (like grass in big scenes). Billboarding and collision radius is sacrificed in this one, however. I think this is a great tradeoff. The existing EXPORT ALL function will be preserved. ;)

Great news Phantom Scatter users, I've developed a new AREA-scatter exporter for 1.10 which works entirely different from the previous one. No more out-of-memory issues! In the pic I casually exported 4.76 million instances (grass, dandelions, daisies, buttercups) for use in an OctaneRender scene.

Mission accomplished, Phantom Scatter 1.10 can now import Octane Render nodes stored in Phantom node Link, validate the data up to a certain point, then automatically put it inside the clipboard node structure. It can even create automatic links between the nodes depending on what's going on. The scatter nodes link to the Group node, the scatter nodes are tied together in their own geometry groups and finally all of it is linked to 1 master geometry group. Now it's possible to literally do CTRL+V in Octane Render standalone and save tons and tons of work. :D

Phantom Scatter 1.10 is now available!

Visit the website here: http://scatter.phantomtechnology.nl/

» Fixed graphical problem that darkened the view when not moving the camera.

» Fixed issue where scrolling selection lists would accidentally activate the variant %-settings behind it.

» Fixed issue where renaming a scatter object did keep it's active selection.

» Fixed issue that crashed the program when deleting a scatter object.

» Fixed issue where the mouse would not lock properly when looking around with the camera.

» When scrolling selection lists (for example the current scatter surface) you can now hold the SHIFT key to scroll faster.

» Added function EXPORT ALL (ALTERNATIVE) for AREA-scatter mode. This function is an alternative version of EXPORT ALL and solves the out-of-memory issue. Now you can make incredibly large and detailed scenes using AREA-scatter without worrying.

Ofcourse you will still have to be a little patient when exporting millions and millions of instances.

However, be aware that the billboarding and collision radius features are not supported in this export method. (!)

Due to the additional internal stuff required to pull this off, startup time of Phantom Scatter is a little longer.

» Small optimization in AREA-scatter mode when scatter objects do not use INSET (value 0 means not using it).

» Renamed function ARCHICAD fix to BIM FIX. This function is now also available for AREA-scatter and IMAGE BASED-scatter (as opposed to just PER TRI-scatter).

» Implemented a tweak in function LINK for IMAGE-BASED-scatter. When you link to an image there is now a check in place that verifies whether your referred image meets the requirement of being 2^x in width and height.

» Phantom Scatter now ties in with Phantom Node Link, the brand new companion tool to Phantom Scatter. Under IMPORT/EXPORT, function COPY TO CLIPBOARD will now take a look at your Phantom Node Link files (in C:\Phantom Node Link\library), validate the node data (up to a certain point), and if validation passed it will add that data into the node structure you are able to CTRL+V into Octane Render standalone.

Check out the Phantom Node Link manual to learn how to use this incredibly powerful and time saving feature.

» Function COPY TO CLIPBOARD now also creates a 'master' Geometry group node that ties all of the Scatter and Geometry groups together for your convenience.
