Is there a way to view stereo cube maps on my pc (like to metverse competition winners on this website). I want to be able to "preview" the images without loading them onto my phone etc

Viewing Stereo Cube Maps On PC
Hi Nuge,
if you want to see the Metaverse competition on your PC, without HMD, you could simply visit the gallery:
https://render.otoy.com/vr_gallery.php
If you want to admire them in full VR with Oculus DK2, you can use Virtual Desktop:

Hi,
sorry for the misunderstanding
in my opinion is so easy to send the cube pano in full quality to the phone via AirDroid that I have never feel the need to look at it on PC first
Anyway, I guess that you need to cut it in a half and use only 6 faces in a standard pano viewer, but I have never try by myfelf, sorry

There will be a PC version of the ORBX Media Player 3.0 that supports CV1 and Vive. It should play back anything that the Gear VR version does. Also working on Google Cardboard/Tango, WebVR, PS VR and others.Nuge wrote:Thanks bepeg4d

We'd like ORBX Media Player (OMP) 3.00 for PC and Mobile VR to be released in tandem with Octane 3.00. We plan to keep updating both in synch going forward as authoring and playback will be more tightly connected with Octane 3->OMP 3 onwards. PS4 and WebVR ports would follow PC and mobile releases for OMP, but too early to commit to an ETA (although we'd like to have PS4 done first - already built a rough prototype last year).glimpse wrote:that sounds great! =) any idea.. roughtly, when it might happen? For non-VR 'window' mode viewports, we can host ORBX media file on a server and stream it live to an HTML5 embed. This works just like the cloud demos on the render.otoy.com menu above - even for UE4 content (which is will be more tightly integrated with the streaming OMP system through the forthcoming Octane/UE4 plug-in).
The authoring components for OMP are currently OR SE script nodes, and mostly working even in the V3 alpha releases, and when done, we would ship them along with 1st party scripts like batch rendering. We have to support more things before we are ready to release to testers - namely the ability to support ORBX script packages (like we do material and scene packages), and more robust mesh export tools (with or without baking). OMP 3.00 test builds on GVR are already working with mesh layers that you can mix with cube map+depth layers, not just as an environment, but Z-compositing and even HDR lighting layers as well.
FBX support in the 3.x roadmap was intended from the start to export bones/weights in ORBX packaged meshes that play back in both ORBX media player as well as Octane 3 SE/ORC. There are now much better options than raw FBX, which we have been exploring during the the last few months (for real time use, FBX is slow to load, and not as compact as we would hope it to be). So we may go with even more performant format once we complete testing and make sure it does all we need it to relative to FBX. So far it is looking good.

In the meantime I saw Whirligig for PC has a custom viewing mode for Octane Cubemap, I haven't gotten a chance to test it out though.
Hi there,
as i understand there will be a QRBX media player 3 in a few day, so we will be able to watch cubemaps on pc.
my question: Is there any possibility to integrate a stereo cubemap into a website, so a custumer can watch a demoscene on his PC via browser?
KRpano seems to do something like that, but i can´t figure out how or if it works with stereocubemaps or cubemaps in generell...
Have a nice day,

Chriz,
You should check vizor.io. They have Otoys cubemaps integrated.
