For aperture there is something that could be done using scripted nodes.

Having a scripted node read the abc camera, and getting the coordinates of the target and camera position, and create another camera where you could control the aperture. Who knows how to do this?

will we finally get edge mode in octane 3 for itoo forest
this is itoo forest response "Hi, Edge mode is a feature that works at render time, removing elements which are outside of the scatter area. Therefore, it requires to implement a custom shader with certain capabilities, but actually only V-Ray allows that.

For other renderers, we are working in an interface which can be used by the developers of these engines, to write its own shader. But since each render engine and company is different, that such feature is finally implemented will depend on them."

This is what I got from Itoo Software regarding edge mode for Octane:

"Unfortunately, because of several technical limitations (mostly due to GPU based algorithms of this render engine) it's not possible to implement support for such feature as the Edge Boundary Checking mode. Thanks for your comprehension."

I'm not a programmer and don't really understand what's needed, but GPU rendering was also hard and the programmers at Otoy pulled it off, so how hard can edge mode be for GPU rendering? But to be fair on them, they've developed a great plugin so maybe there is a limitation of some kind.

Hi all,

Just a little question, is it possible to have an access to a beta program right now or not ? And if not, when :) ?
Thanks,

Matt

Yeah I would love to be using Octane 3 right now. Just working on my first full VR job and Octane has been great.. except large portions of it are clouds! And I can't render my clouds with v2. Oh well, I am guessing it will be a 2016 situation.. but if it's ready sooner, like preferably before november 11 or so, that would be great.
