Anyone using Substance Painter with LW/Octane? It seems we could use the maps it creates with Octane, but not sure. If so which workflow in Substance do we choose...Metallic/Roughness or Specular/Glossiness? Not sure how it would work for most of our workflow being Architectural but looks very interesting and like to keep up with the latest things. certainly looks amazing for Game Asset Creation.

Sorry sounds very noobie of me...and I am! :)

Thanks.

There's a thread here that might help:

Just search for substance painter and it should get you in the right spot.

Yea there is some stuff about Substance and Native LW but nothing for Octane that I see. Did you see something different?

ok with a little more research and playing around I think I've found a decent reproduction with Octane using Substance Painter Textures.
The main thing to understand is that Octane uses Specular/Glossiness shading. (I think) and Glossiness is shown in our/Octane system as Roughness. Confusing because Substance has a roughness layer as well.

But if I am right so far...you map Specular Channel to Spec in Octane and Glossiness to Roughness in Octane. Inside Substance you'll export Base Color, Glossiness, Specular, Height, Normal...and any others you need.

Let us know if I'm wrong! thanks.

That's certainly similar to my set up with images from Quixel Suite. I also make the gamma of all 2.2 except spec and roughness which I make 1. I then put the roughness into a colour correct node. Invert it and put it out at 2.2. That's got the closest for me.

I thought you couldn't use bump maps and normal maps at the same time? Or was that under Octane v1.x?

sorry about taking so long to reply...

you're right, it was just for LW and not octane. Looks like you found a solution though, and it looks pretty good too. I'm just getting into SP myself and will try out your solution as well.

thanks!

I've found this link that seems to give me better results. It's not directly to LW (SP to Octane), but it isn't hard to figure out how to go the last step.
