Hi,
I have discovered a strange behaviour of Object layer node. If for objects placed near another object I disable Camera visibility , but leave Shadow visibility I can observe that on the surface of contact of visible object a visible a "tattoo" of the pictures of the objects that are no visible to the camera.
I think that I can seen a uniform shadow for the invisible objects, but not his pictures! It seem that the lightest parts of picture are transparent and the darker are opaque, so the stange tattoo shadows on visible object.

What you are seeing here is expected behaviour. Those objects still have shadow visibility turned on so you still see their shadows.augdalmo wrote:Hi,

Ok Stratified , BUT a squared object must have a squared shadow, and NOT return the darker part of the image of his surface, the object have a glossy material and NOT a transparent one. I have appointed "TATTOO SHADOW"
The shadow of a grid is a grid, the shadow of a squared object, with a surface painted as a grid, is a squared shadow! or not? Not surely a Tattoo shadow.
It seem that refraction (or reflection) is responsible of this strange behaviour, see the image. Indeed the tattoo shadow is traslated of an angle at 90° of light direction.
I hope you have now a clear vision of the problem, and consider a patch.
You can find attached a file scene so you can try to repoduce what I have displayed.

Can you package your project as an .orbx file? The objects and textures are missing.

I had a look at your scene. But what you call a "tattoo shadow" isn't a shadow, it's indeed a reflection. I've captured the reflection render pass to make it more clear. Also I've changed the material in the second render to a mirror to make it really clear. This is not strange behaviour, it's how physically based rendering works. If you don't want these reflections, you need to remove the texture from the diffuse channel in the invisible object.

Hi Thomas, many thanks for your investigation and explanation.
I suggest that the "Layer" node could be implemented also with "reflection visibility". This implementation will be better than simply disconnect a material, if you want to keep the object visible and also the material, but it is not necessary to make visible reflection on other surfaces.
