Hey, this might be a bit of a noob question, but are there any differences in available features between the stand alone version and the plug-in versions of octane? And if so where can I find that list? Thanks.

It all depends what plugin you are thinking of. Usually the standalone is the first updated version.

There is some limitations / Differences between the standalone and the c4d plugin.
Mostly on the way shader network behave. Octane is based on c4d material structure and it's limiting in some way.
Hopefully in future versiosn the node editor will be stable enough to work with and it will make the differences much smaller.

hi,
in my opinion, the c4d-octane plugin is very very close to Octane Standalone, you can do exactly the same materials on both and, with the last update, aoktar has made a big step forward with the node-graph material system. Considering that c4d doesn't have an own node graph material system, the developer has made a super fantastic work ;)
Preparing a scene inside c4doctane is far more easy and, in any time you can export the entire scene via orbx or ocs for fine tuning in the Standalone, if you like to get the best from both as I like to do ;)
For example, the SE is more efficent with bigger scenes because sucks less resources than a big application like c4d or max or so on.
