I think this image would have been a bit better if the humans were all wearing some sort of low profile VR sunglasses. If their bodies are being scanned in real-time it would only make sense, and it looks like "the matrix" in that case.

A bit late but congrats Chriz!
May I ask what your camera settings were? I'm also "blind" without an Oculus or Gear at the moment and just working with the default settings!

Hi maxwood,
thank you for asking me. Because i was "blind" too, i didn´t change the camerasettings at all.
I use the C4Dplugin and there is the IPD set at 65mm. Than there was nothing more to do. Just take attention that your camera is well orientated (0 degrees at all axis) and post effect is off, set it on "panoramic cube map", stereo "side by side" and 18432px x 1536px, That´s it, i guess!
Have fun and good luck!

Thanks Chriz, much appreciated.
I guess you also used 60 for FOV

If anyone is wondering the setting in 3DS Max for IPD is the "Stereo dist." by default is 0.02 I believe - unfortunately I have no idea if these units take into account the units setup in 3DS Max.

Hi Chriz! Love your work. Do you have a website where I can see more of what you've done?

Hi,
in his "notes for VR artists" on facebook https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php? ... 6735798590 John Carmack took my entry to show others what to avoid, to get less eyestrain.
Now i could not resist to rerender just the small region in front where the console was a bit to close to camera and caused the eyestrain.
Submitting this scene in the first round of this contest i had no headset, no "notes for VR artists" and no cloudrendering to push the limits.
Perhaps, if it matters, if it is possible and if you (OTOY) want to, you can take this "less-eyestrain-version" for final grand prize decision.
I changed absolutly nothing but the position of the front console.
Actually i am somehow not able to upload any attachments....would dropbox be ok, or will i get disqualiyfied that way? An answer would be nice. Anyway, I will try to upload it here later again.
Have a nice day everyone! Thank you!
Best, Chriz

OK, i guess it is not possible to attach files anymore.
So, if i am allowed, i would post a dropboxlink to the "Less-Eyestrain-Version".
Is it possible to get some feedback from you Otoy? Even if not for contest, i just would like to upload a better version...
Thanks a lot!
