Hi there,

I really need to use GI_DIFFUSE but I can not get it to light things behind glas. I have a bunch of showcases that contain objects that need to get light. This does all work great with the other GI_modes but not with GI_DIFFUSE. I hope the following images are more or less self explaining.

The above image shows the problem quite good. There is a glas-box with a wall thickness of 0.5 mm. The object inside is not getting any light (or at least it looks like this).

This image shows, that it works quite good in GI_AMBIENT_OCCLUSION, but the final result requires to use GI_DIFFUSE. It is also not possible to use pmc or pathtracing (where I get light into the cube). This would require too much rendertime. So, is there a way to tell the glas it should just be visible but let the light through if it would not be there? Is this a bug or a feature? Any workaround?

Hi, it is still not possible with DL kernel, check with other pathtracer, Cycles, Luxrender.
But I get similar Ms/sec with pathracing.
Set diffuse depth 2
Set specular depth 7
Set path term power 1
Set Coherent power 1
May Clamp 3

Cheers, mib
