I think it would work when motion blur is enabled

Shouldn't motion vector work without motion blur? Objects move and have some speed regardless of lenses.aoktar wrote:I think it would work when motion blur is enabled
Case is that I play with motion blur in composting, not to render it in octane, therefore would be nice to have motion vector pass.
It works with native standard C4D renderer, and workaround would be to render it with standard renderer but not if I have DOF rendered in Octane.
Sorry for previous reply. I understood wrong as you are wishing to get it without motion blur is enabled. If you use motion pass, it will give you disabled results and a speed vector.skoeth wrote:Hi, i'm interested in getting a motion vector pass without rendering the motion blur into the image as well.
Any news about that?

Hello Aoktar, I jumped here because I am having this problem right now.
I have dissabled motion blur on camera, but enabled on octane render passes. And all I get is a grey image.
Is there a tutorial or a quick tip to setup motion blur as a pass?
*****Another question about render passes: When I enabled Z depth pass I see a black-white correct depth pass in the live viewer but when I render I just see a white colored image.
Proves are attached into the document.

I assume that answered both questions. one is at just above and zdepth question in a recent post in this forum.

Hello Aoktar, thanks for answer.
Excuse me, I should had read the manual before posting, I see now the Zdepth workaround.
I understand that in some cases motion vector is giving negative values so you can't see them in the live viewer; you need to export to exr file and use it on composition.
May I ask how to setup correctly this kind of motion vector pass in After effects? When I use this black pass with RSMB nothing happens

You need to activate motion blur in camera tag. Otherwise it will not write any motion data. When you activate motion vector pass, it will disable motion blur effect on render and just gives a motion vector data in related pass. I don't know how you can use it in AE. I don't prefer to use passes as a person but just for some vfx reasons.JavierVerdugo wrote:Hello Aoktar, thanks for answer.

You can use Reel Smart Motion Blur Pro plugin (RSMB Pro) for AE or any other compositing software and import motion vector pass for creating motion blur effect.JavierVerdugo wrote:Hello Aoktar, thanks for answer.
