export to proxy?

sorry, but the manual dosen't make me any wiser :-/

if i rightclick an object i can select to 'export to octane proxy' - and then the object is exported as an .octprx file.

is this for use in the standalone or how/what is it for?

it´s for replacing high polygon count (trees,...) with proxies for faster interaction
