i have just purchased a chair from designconnected that i would like to use with 3ds max / octane.

i'm a noob (or not that new, just slow learning) regarding 3ds max - so please be tolerant :-)

can anyone guide me to the best way to use an object library / workflow?

should i import or merge the chair?

what about textues?
- if i merge the chair.max, the textures are missing
- if i import the obj, the textures are there, but mapped wrong (see attached file)

please guide me :-)

EDIT
if i import the obj into the standalone version, the mapping looks ok.

thanks

You have to relink the maps.

With this script: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scrip ... nk-bitmaps
or
With asset tracking (Shift-T)

the script seems to work just fine, but can i prepair the chair.max somehow so i don't need to do this everytime?

like add folder where i have the max library?

thanks :-)

You can try to unzip your bitmaps on the /scenes folder of your max project. I think it's better to relink each map to the final location (for organization purposes), but for a quick and dirty solution it works well.
