I did a simple test of which Maya shader equates to which Octane shader. So far, Blinn is Diffuse and All the other ones turn into Gloss with certain various setting. I'm curious as to what shader in Maya will translate to Specular shader in Octane. Set up everything in Octane sometimes can be slow. Would be nice to be able to have a head start in maya to begin with.

Hi, I can't answer that as i don't know how maya export's it's materials nor have i any idea how the maya material system works...
Maybe play around and you'll find what does what and how it exports.?

That's what I did. I assign material to separate objects and then render them in Octane to see what's what. So far, all Maya shaders have been tested, and nothing translates to Specular. Is is possible for the plugin team to code the 3 main shaders into Maya so hypershade can be a little bit more useful. It's easier to asign map and edit setting this way.radiance wrote:Hi, I can't answer that as i don't know how maya export's it's materials nor have i any idea how the maya material system works...

you'll have to ask that in the maya plugin forum...Krisonrik wrote:That's what I did. I assign material to separate objects and then render them in Octane to see what's what. If you're rendering in Octane, your Maya shaders are just a container, your work hours will be better spent in Octane setting up shaders rather than in maya in the first place.Krisonrik wrote:I did a simple test of which Maya shader equates to which Octane shader.
