Volumetrics will more likely arrive with Octane 3, probably in late 2015, so I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

Rikk, I am going to hold my breath... Going by how quickly they added all these 2.0 features, I personally think that volumetrics and particles will take way less time than that. You are talking well over a year... what is that eta based on?

No! It's kind of shader. When one object intersect other it could be subtacted from other in the rendered picture "on the fly" without any real geometry changings.
