A quick look at virtually every other plugin forum here shows that they get regular updates.
Octane plugin development may be hard, but not HALF A YEAR hard. Most of the others have January or December updates.
This one? We got a vague promise for January 2nd after half a year of nothing that turned out to be a lie.
I can't help but feel I paid good money for a license for someone clearly incapable of doing their job to sit on their hands.
I'm sorry but I can only be so patient when I see that others who paid the same amount as me get regular updates and I'm stuck with a plugin that doesn't work. The material bugs and crashes make what I currently want to do impossible.
Oh yes I'm sure the new version of the plugin has sooooo many nice features ready for it's completion in 2025, but fancy new features don't mean crap when the CURRENT version has issues that break it entirely.
Ever heard of a hotfix, t_3? Apparently you haven't.
In short if you, t_3, are not capable of developing this plugin in anything resembling a human lifetime, then hand it over to someone who can because it seems to me that EVERY SINGLE PLUGIN DEVELOPER HERE can do it better than you.
And for the ones defending him, you're basically defending a guy who as far as I'm concerned has taken our money and run. You may enjoy being fleeced, but I do not.
Stop making excuses for t_3

I think Otoy needs to step up to make this right. We paid to be Beta testers; not something I want to continue.
Someone should make this right.

I suppose we could try to email them and let them know how bad our situation is.rcallicotte wrote:I think Otoy needs to step up to make this right. We paid to be Beta testers; not something I want to continue.

But it won't work unless most of us do it.

I doubt it will matter whether few or many. There are at least 10 people not saying anything for one who is. It doesn't really matter. I paid for a completed version. Maybe Otoy can make it right either by finishing this version or giving us a credit for another vendor who has an active developer. I'm interested in Modo...

Posting this here probably wont help at all unfortunately. I don't believe t_3 visits these forums anymore, if you look at his profile, his last visited date is currently shown as " - ", also don't believe I've seen a post from him in about 2 months now.
Maybe start a topic on a general Octane forum and link it from here so that DS plugin users know about it and can post in it.

Social media, via Twitter, etc (https://twitter.com/OTOY) may be another route along with emailing the folks on the contact page.
Plugin works just fine and is still being developed, what issues are you having with current version?
Win 11 64GB | NVIDIA RTX3060 12GB
Constant crashes would be one thing?
What do you base you statement that it's "still being developed" on?
Seriously, his last post, more then a month ago was:
I agree things are getting a little weird. I got my license in january, based on t_3 making regular posts on this forum, and making (what seemed to be) consistent progress. At that point he was posting weekly if not more. Then suddenly total radio silcence from him. I don't agree with concluding that he took the money and run, all kinds of real world stuff could have happended, but it's weird that Otoy doesn't seem to have any kind of feeling for what's going on here.
I wish someone would just hack in some basic functionality, like exporting the scene with the converted materials to the standalone. That would give a solid basis to work from, and at least you could save your materials.
Should everybody contact them or just a "spokesperson" of some kind? I'm obviously very new, so I'm not really in touch with the community.

I had very fast response when communicating with Otoy through [email protected]. Of course that was about purchasing a license, so mileage may vary :-/i'm now about ready to take a long nap and put everything together for the test release. so 2nd of january seems to be within reach, what also means it is exactly 7 months after the last version was out. 7 months that felt more like 6 years; at least i feel 7 years older now
apart from that i hope you all have - or had - a happy new year
and 'd like to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to work along on what needs to be worked out and all the patience it took. and i promise to not overstress it very much longer![]()
