Is the obj file created from the script actually there on your disk?

We'll investigate the closing of the scene without an alert (did you have unsaved changes in that scene?) and the mac crash.

thanks,
Thomas
yes, the "mycube.obj" was correctly saved in a folder "geometry" inside the ocs folder.
about the scene closing, running the script, always cause the closing of the opened scene, with or without unsaved changes ;)

Hi beppe,

I'll make sure that unsaved changes are saved when doing a reset from Lua. Will be fixed in the next RC.

cheers,
Thomas

A quick note: The Linux build is now available, too.

Not done yet. As I said in the opening post: All the animation stuff is work in progress and will be completed over the coming releases.

Roeland, I believe the grouping/ungrouping that caused crashes was: (from a 1.20 scene) a couple OBJs, a couple materials, a couple placement nodes, that were plugged into a geometry group... And I just tried to recreate this just now (prolly not exactly the same ones) and Octane did not crash. I will keep an eye when I get a chance to play some more. I have to get back to real work now...

But before I get back to work... Now that we have visibility, is it even in the realm of possibility (maybe some time down the road - through tweaks to Octane engine or through scripting) that objects could do boolean functions at render time? For instance (pun intended), if invisible-to-camera (instanced) objects could be used to carve out holes in stuff (geometry, not alpha - and would pick up materials of cutting object), this would be enormous, imho. One could create shit at render time that would be extremely difficult otherwise... just tossing this out there...

Check your kernel and render settings, the render speed should be the same as in 1.20.

I wanted to wait for a more stable/bug-free release, but I couldn't resist, so I played with it a bit.

- The rendering speed has decreased.
As you can see, the image on the left is 1.20, the one on the right is 1.21

- I tried the Object Layer, but there is a bug: whatever option I change, it affects all sub-objects :?
Image

Perhaps I'm missing something?
This is how I made the Object Layer

- Another bug I found, if I click on the Object Layer tab and change the General Visibility slider, it works, but then if I click on the OBJ tab, and than back to the Object Layer tab, the slider doesn't work anymore

1) Of course it affects all sub object because you have connected the same object layer to all object pins.
2) When you click to obj mesh, Octane starts render this mesh which is not using any object properties. Yo have click on object map node
